Pat Burns a été l'un des plus grands entraîneurs de la LNH. Il a dirigé tour à tour les Canadiens de Montréal, les Maple Leafs de Toronto, les Bruins de Boston et les Devils du New Jersey, multipliant dans chaque ville des succès fracassants et y laissant des souvenirs inoubliables. Son extraordinaire carrière a connu son apogée en 2003, avec les Devils, lors de conquête de la coupe Stanley. Le cancer l'a emporté en 2010, à l'âge de 58 ans, après une lutte exemplaire et inspirante.
