Biographie de cette Américaine émigrée à Paris durant les Années folles, qui a été la mascotte des artistes et intellectuels de Montparnasse. Compagne de M. Duchamp, elle monte un atelier de reliure, rue Hallé. Elle s'engage dans la Résistance sous le nom de code Gentle Mary, avant de retrouver son atelier en 1945 et de devenir correspondante pour le magazine américain "View".
